About

Our Mission

The Cancer Cachexia Network is the patient and caregiver advocacy arm of the Cancer Cachexia Society — focused on awareness, education, and community for those living with cachexia.

What is CCN?

The Cancer Cachexia Network (CCN) was founded to fill a critical gap: while cachexia affects millions of cancer patients and their families, awareness of the condition remains shockingly low — even among oncology teams. Patients lose weight, lose muscle, and lose function, often without knowing that what they are experiencing has a name and a growing body of research behind it.

CCN exists to change that. We connect patients and caregivers with each other, with educational resources, and with the latest research — so that no one faces cachexia in isolation.

Our Relationship with the Cancer Cachexia Society

CCN is the patient and caregiver advocacy group of the Cancer Cachexia Society, a professional scientific organization dedicated to advancing cachexia research. While the Society focuses on the clinical and scientific community, CCN bridges that world with the patients and families it ultimately serves.

Our Focus Areas

  • Community — Building and sustaining the most active patient and caregiver community for those affected by cancer cachexia.
  • Awareness — Increasing recognition of cachexia among patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
  • Education — Making accurate, accessible information available to those who need it most.
  • Advocacy — Amplifying the patient voice in research and policy discussions on cachexia.

Leadership

The CCN is led by co-chairs Martin Kochanczyk and Andrew Judge and is supported by the Board of Directors of the Cancer Cachexia Network.
