Cancer Cachexia Awareness Day
Welcome. Cancer Cachexia Awareness Day (CCAD) is our annual day of visibility for cachexia — the wasting syndrome that touches up to 80% of people with advanced cancer, yet remains unknown to most patients and families until they’re already living with it. Everything on this page is free to download and share. Scroll on for a bit more about why we mark this day, then grab whatever helps you spread the word.
About CCAD
Raising cachexia awareness
Cancer Cachexia Awareness Day is an international day of recognition organized by the Cancer Cachexia Society (CCS) and its patient and caregiver advocacy arm, the Cancer Cachexia Network (CCN). CCS observed the first CCAD on September 26, 2025, during the biennial conference, and has designated the last Friday in September as the annual day of recognition. In conference (odd) years, this coincides with CCS’s international meeting, when scientists, clinicians, and patient advocates gather in one place.
In even numbered years, including this year, CCAD is entirely online, and we’re using the whole month of September to publish and share awareness materials in the run-up to September 25. Everyone marking the day is doing so from their own institution, community, and channels; everything we’ve released is available below to download and share.
How to take part: post the graphics below on your organization’s channels throughout September — one a day, all at once, or saved for September 25 itself, whatever fits your rhythm. Print and hand out the flyer in a language your community reads. Use #CancerCachexiaAwarenessDay and #CCAD when you post. If your institution is planning something for the day, tell us — we’d love to feature it.
